Sick Blessings

How has your week been? It's been a little rough here, but nothing we can't handle. Today I'm sharing the good stuff of the week. It's a great way for me to focus on the positive while connecting a bit more with you...my readers. Join in here.

1. Feeling better. Kind of. I'm feeling much better than last weekend. (See link below.) My husband is now sick.
2. Voting. I may have spent 1 hour and 15 minutes in line, but I voted. Even if all "my guys" didn't win, I'm grateful for the process.
3. Planning. I'm thinking about Thanksgiving and Christmas a lot these days. What do you think should go on my wishlist? I'm accepting recommendations!

4. Reading. When I was sick I had extra time to read.
5. Movies. When I was sick I watched TWO movies. That's two more movies than I typically watch in a whole month. I watched Pride and Prejudice. (Affiliate link. Good, but the book is better, as always.) And Julia and Julie. (Affiliate link. Really good, and I could relate as a blogger.) I borrowed both from the library, but both DVDs are available for less than $5 on Amazon. Maybe I should have gone that route.

Bonus: I just remembered that Brother and Big Sister had Tuesday off from school. It was a nice break in routine.

Really, I'm still feeling rather blah. Housework is piling up (dishes, laundry, dust, dirt...) since my energy is quite low. I haven't put forth much efforts into meals this week. One of the repercussions of this is we are not eating leftovers since the meals are quick and easy.

Next week I'm looking forward to a giveaway at Little House Companion. It will be the first there. Be sure to visit next week to learn more.

This week on the blog I wrote about...

Helping Mom Overcome Illness
Molasses Cookies Recipe
Dying with Dignity
Classic Apple Pie Recipe
How to Make Butter

Are you making holiday plans? What should I add to my wishlist?

  1. You need to watch the BBC movie version. The one you watched was okay, but the BBC miniseries is superb and will almost come up to the beauty of the book.

  3. Glad you are feeling better! And that you got some time to read! :)
Wow, that's a long wait! In our little area I walked in, checked in, voted, and left all in about 10 minutes.
I am really excited about the holidays this year, we are NOT hosting a large family get together this year. Quiet time at home!

  4. Hope you all are feeling better soon! if you like to read, I highly recommend The Book Thief. best book I've read all year and I've read a lot of books! it could go on your wish list. 😄 I love pride and prejudice! glad you got to see it! have a wonderful weekend! ( ps.....we don't HAVE to do the favors for the Turner Thanksgiving but it is kind of expected so......once the inlaws have passed on, we won't need to do things their way)

  5. I agree about the BBC version of P&P. That Kiera Knightly one was good, but this one is so much better. It is about 6 hours, though, so that makes it harder to get to.

I am so sorry you and your husband have been sick - hope you're all on the mend soon.

I am grateful for the privilege to vote, too.
