Anticipation!

It's time to wrap up the week focusing on the good stuff with Friday Fave Five!

1. A visit to my former school.  I only taught at this particular school for two years, but they really impacted me.  It had been about five years since my last visit, but on Friday Little Sister and I were able to visit!  It is a college prep (K-12) school, but every year the staff and students sing a great variety of Christmas songs (and at least one Hanukkah) around the Christmas tree.  I only saw a couple of students (up close), but I was able to see all of my lower school co-workers, including this one.  I haven't taught since the 2005-06 school year, but I was the last staff change for 1st-4th grades (which make up the lower school) which tells you a bit about the school, I think.

2. In-laws.  Spent Saturday with the family for our nephew's birthday party.  We took a different route to Virginia this time and it wasn't nearly as intense (for me, the passenger).

3. A heart-felt hug.  In addition to the recent events in Connecticut that makes you want to hug those near you, our church felt some personal loss this week, too.  A friend came to me directly after church for the purpose of a good hug.  This woman is very special to me...a real blessing to have a maternal influence near to me.

4. Vomit in the kitchen.  Seriously.  Little Sister (almost 14 months) threw up on Tuesday...but on our kitchen floor.  Clean up doesn't get any easier than that for a child that age!  (I was surprised that the green beans from nearly 24 hours before made an appearance.  But you probably didn't want to know that.)  The next time she was sick was on my lap...and after that it was only in the diaper.  As of this writing, it has been over twenty-four hours!  (And if you would, pray that no one else gets sick.  We need to see our family!!)

5.  Anticipation.  But really, I am quite excited about the many days of Christmas our family will experience.  We'll be with family (both sides) for a good bit of Big Sister and Derek's Christmas vacation, seeing our families that live in VA, NYC, and northeastern PA.  Celebrating the birth of our Lord with family is truly a blessing.

Bonus: Great news of a friend who is adopting!  Wrapped gifts.  Washing machines.  And Christmas vacation for the whole family!  No work or school until 2013!  (Derek is required to take vacation days...but still!)

And the angel said to them, "Fear not, for behold, I bring you good news of great joy that will be for all the people.  For unto you is born this day in the city of David a Savior, who is Christ the Lord."
~ Luke 2:9-10

Merry Christmas to all!

What was the best part of your week?  I look forward to hearing about it!

  1. It is helpful when people can throw up on flooring that is not carpeted. :-) Hope all are well soon. Hope you have a great Christmas!
