School! (FFF#30)

It's time to consider the good of the week with Friday Fave Five!

1. Sight and Sound Theater.  We took Derek's grandparents, mom, and aunt, along with our family (minus the baby) to see Jonah at the Sight and Sound theater in Lancaster, PA.  (Missouri also boasts of one.)  It was a great show.  It was a creative retelling of Jonah.  The sets were amazing, with the main stage and two side stages used (at times).  The acting/dancing/singing was also quite fabulous.  I have only seen one show on Broadway...and to be honest I don't remember much of it, other than being incredibly impressed.  I don't know if other, more experienced people, would say they are comparable, but we thought it was a great show!  We only had a short visit with the family, but it was good!

2. School!  Big Sister began kindergarten!  Brother began preschool!

3. Reading with Brother and Time with Little Sister.  We are able to read picture books laying on the couch together.  So sweet...and comfortable!  Monday was Big Sister's first day of school, and Brother didn't go to morning preschool until Tuesday.  I chose two picture books to read.  We we finished, he said, just one more.  Two more books later, we decided it was lunch time.  I have also been enjoying a bit of time with Little Sister...just the two of us!

4. Friday OFF.  Big Sister has a four day weekend.  I need it!  It is exhausting leaving the house four times a day (when Brother has school-TWH) to take her to the bus stop, (then home for 45 minutes,) take him to school, pick him up from school, and get her from the bus stop.  EXHAUSTING.

5. The past six years.  In the past six years, since I stopped teaching, my morning schedule has been pretty flexible, even when getting Big Sister ready for preschool.  This past week has opened my eyes to how easy it was.  It is not getting up before six that bothers me so much now.  It's all the leaving the house for preschool  I've mentioned before I am a homebody.  This is just a lot of going for me, let alone our baby who had a schedule...Even Brother mentioned that he didn't like it-meaning all the going.  It will get easier as we all adjust though!!

Bonuses: A)This Simple Home is nearing 100 likes on Facebook!  Having started the blog this year, that excites me that people are interested!  B) With my daughter beginning kindergarten, I shared about how she has overcome a speech disorder called Childhood Apraxia of Speech.  It is something I think of often and my gratitude does not stop...

I do enjoy looking back on each week and counting the blessings.  Thanks for taking the time to read!  I'm linking to Living to Tell the Story.

Consider entering the giveaway for Water Magic!  It'd be a great item to set aside for a rainy day or to add to your gift stash when you need a quick gift.

  1. I remember it was very hard taking kids back and forth to school at different times with a baby in the house as well. Thankfully this season won't last forever.

It's fun to get some cozy reading time in with the little ones.

  2. School in Belgium always starts on 1st of September, except this year it will be the 3rd. Must be quiet tiring to drive so many times per day !

  3. I've heard good things about the sight and sound theatre. Sounds like a great family outing!

I can't believe it's back to school time already! Your kids look adorable all dressed up for first day.

  4. Annette -- I LOVED your post on your daughter's speech history. My favorite? "Don't let her diagnosis become her identity -- or yours." Such good advice. What a blessing the way she has overcome this. Just awesome!

I'll have to check out This Simple Home on Facebook. I have an author page on Facebook, too.

Enjoy those reading times and have a great week! (By the way, thanks for your sweet blog comments. They're always SO encouraging.)

  6. Ah, I had wondered how Jonah was - they put on such incredible shows. We had hoped to go, but ended up going to see the Dead Sea Scrolls and will hopefully make Noah sometime next year :-)
Wonderful blessings - it is precious to have one on one time with the youngest.
