Friday's Favorites #28

Every week is full of blessings; sometimes we just need to look a bit harder.

1. Sleep.  Have you noticed this recurring theme here?  Well, Little Sister has been continuing to sleep much better.  She is sleeping past five most days, though not always.  For that I am thankful, even if my body still awakens often during the night for long bouts of sleeplessness.  Last night she was working on some teeth breaking through, and woke up three times during the night, and again around 6:30...but I'm still thankful for the sleep I had earlier in the week!

2. Friends.  This week I've been able to enjoy time with friends.  It's been a real blessing, especially considering one just married and another hosted a few of us (and all the kids) at her home...and called me less than 48 hours later to let me know she was home with her new baby.  (She was only at her birth center for a few hours, but still...)

3. Gratitude.  (Maybe this should be "Perspective.")  When I consider new life this week, I can't help but to think of when life ends too soon...and a birthday that should have been celebrated this week.  Instead of being discouraged and asking "Why?" I can be thankful for the time with him.  I have been reading Choosing Gratitude by Nancy Leigh DeMoss and really enjoying it...while being convicted on so many levels.

4. Anticipation.  My nearly six year old will begin kindergarten later this month and my nearly four year old will begin preschool.
5.  Blooming.  Again.  My children and I spent a week away in July.  During that week, I don't think my husband watered the potted flowers.  When I arrived home, all of the blooms were gone.  Though it had rained a bit, it wasn't enough with strong winds, too.  After a couple of weeks of faithful watering, the flowers are back, though it is a bit of a mess.  Still, it's very exciting!

So those are my Friday's Fave Five.  You can share your good stuff over at Living to Tell the Story, too!

  2. Your friend sounds amazing-hosting a moms' day just before delivery.
I'm sure you'll miss your little guys during the school day but it will be a nice break for you and the little one.

  3. Love your flowers! I hope you're able to get more sleep, Annette. Guess you've gotta be thankful for it when it comes. Exciting time, with your kids starting school soon. Take pictures!

I want to check out Choosing Gratitude.

  4. I'm glad the flowers came back!

It's exciting with school coming up so soon.

I'm glad you've had some good sleep and time with friends last week,

I'm sorry for the loss of the one whose birthday was last week. Those milestones are hard.
