A Dusty Week

It's time to think about the week. What's been happening with you? Can you name a few good things?
1. A new haircut. My hair has turned a bit funky. It used to be stick straight. Now it has it's own fuzzy personality. My stylist put in some long layers. When I arrived home, Big Sister (age 8) asked me how I got curly hair. It's not that curly, but certainly has some body. The best part is that I'm not fighting it any more. And no, I'm sorry, but I don't have a photo...

2. Pioneer Girl: The Annotated Autobiography, by Laura Ingalls Wilder. It's amazing! I had the opportunity to read a copy of the unbound manuscript years ago, but the notes in this autobiography are incredibly informative. I definitely recommend it for teens and adults who really want to know more about Laura and the Little House books. I'm thoroughly enjoying the ARC. (Bonus: It's 36% OFF at Amazon. Affiliate link.)
3. Writing project. I've been working on a writing project for a while. (An hour here and there.) I finally edited my draft. Now I just have to edit it lots more and then I can consider what's next.
4. Hard-working husband. Last year we had our plumbing repiped (in a five year old house...that's a different story). The plumbers cut holes in walls and ceiling to get to the pipes. To save money, my husband fixed the sheetrock himself. After a lot of work, the holes are completely fixed. This week he stopped with the wet sanding and created a giant mess to complete the project. Sheetrock dust is awful and gets into every nook and cranny, but it's done. He is painting another room, and I suspect the ceilings, before Thanksgiving.
5. He proposed. This was the weekend that my husband proposed to me in 2002. This was one of the engagement photos. (It wasn't my favorite...but my friend recently sent it to me so it's accessible.) I have a (fairly) recent picture of us on my About page. We may have changed a wee bit.

Bonus. Flower bed. I cleaned out the flower bed on Tuesday. With mild temperatures, it was a good day to do it. I don't know much about flowers, but I cut back all the dead flowers. I hope that's what you're supposed to do. It certainly looks better!

I've been cleaning dust this week. Not much time for blogging.

  2. Open ID isn't letting me log in with my Wordpress account, so I am having to use my Google one.

My hair is the same - it was always straight but hasn't gotten frizzy in recent years. A shorter cut with layers does give it more body.

I hope your writing project goes well! Exciting.

I would like to read Pioneer Girl, but not any time soon - maybe for the next LIW reading challenge,

Congratulations on the anniversary of getting engaged!

  6. HAPPY (belated) ANNIVERSARY! I got a smile out of your photo. I had uber short hair for our original engagement pictures as well. I'm horrified by those now. :D

I'm so curious to see your new hair cut if you ever get around to handing the kids a camera to take a picture of you. :D
