The reality of busyness makes me want to skip counting the blessings on Fridays with Friday Fave Five, but this is a discipline that I really appreciate.  It's also wonderful to be able to look back at the past and have a better record of the little things since I do not post much on my family blog these days.

1. Baby dedication.*  Little Sister was dedicated to the Lord during our worship service on Sunday.  It was a special time for us.

2. More family visiting!  Derek's parents, aunt, and grandparents (including Little Sister's namesake) were able to come for an overnight trip for the dedication.  Then Derek's mom returned for a short Grandparents' Luncheon at Big Sister's school.

3. Last night.  Little Sister slept through the night for the first time in three long weeks last night.  She has not been sleeping well since her sinus infection.  I suspect teeth may be the culprit.  Two nights ago she was up every hour from 11:30 until it was time to get up at six (with Tylonel).

4. Bible/Book study.  Twice a month I'll be attending a book/Bible study on Shepherding a Child's Heart.  I did this when Big Sister was a baby.  Can't wait to do it all over again because it is such a good parenting book.

5. Relationships.  I am so thankful for family and friends (and that includes my blogging friends).  Connecting with others is such a blessing!  I learn so much, and I hope I encourage others, too.

A bonus this week...my husband's four-day weekend!  Big Sister has school on Columbus Day, but I'm glad he'll be home!

*What is an infant dedication ceremony?
Child dedication is a voluntary act in which believing parents publicly present their child to the Lord as an outward expression of their gratitude to Him for the child, as a formal appeal to God for His assistance in bringing up the child, and as a consecration of the child to the Lord for His purposes and glory.  It is done in the context of a worship service of the local church with the family of God present.  And I will add that a dedication does not provide salvation for the child, that is through faith!

What was the blessings of your week!  Please leave a comment or I can catch up with you with FFF over at Living to Tell a Story.

Your Bible study sounds great! And thank you for the explanation at the end, simply because I was curious. :)

  7. Love those baby dedications -- such a special time. Glad to hear your sick little one is better and slept through the night. I'm sure that helps! I've heard great things about that book and study.

    Have a great week, Annette!

  8. I love baby dedications. At our church the whole family is called up if they want to go and it's so meaningful to see them all standing with the parents and supporting them.

Yay for little one's sleeping through the night. Those teeth can really be tough for those little guys.
