My friend recently treated me to a Girls' Night Out at a local Christian conference center. Dinner was provided, followed by a speaker. Shaunti Feldhahn. I was not familiar with her, though the cover of one of her books did look familiar.
Shaunti talked to the guests for less than an hour and a half, but it was a very encouraging time. I learned a lot from Shaunti, and wanted to share a bit...
When we ask our husbands, "Why did you...?" They hear, "Why did you do that, you dodo?"
That happens to be a question that is asked too often around here. What I really appreciate that Shaunti provided a new phrase to us. Instead of asking why, she suggests we say, "Help me to understand."
Shaunti also shared the big way men "hear" love is when we sincerely thank them.
I am looking forward to reading For Women Only, just one of Shaunti's books. Maybe after that I will read The Life Ready Woman: Thriving in a Do-It-All World. Shaunti was an excellent speaker, and I look forward to more encouragement in her writing.
