How to Remove Blood Stains on Carpet

Two of my children often have bloody noses. Recently, they were wrestling and one of them began bleeding. Thankfully only a few drops of blood dripped on the carpet.

I sent the bloodied child to the bathroom and provided tissues. Then I got to work. I grabbed the bottle of peroxide that I keep in the laundry closet and a few paper towels.  In just a minute or two the blood stain was gone. Here's how.

Drizzle a bit of peroxide on the blood stains.

use peroxide to remove blood stains, even on carpet

Blot the blood stains with the paper towel. Do not rub. Just push down. Continue until the stain is gone. Add more peroxide if needed.

You can see the carpet is a bit wet, but the stain is gone.

I use peroxide to remove blood from clothing, too. We've had a number of shirts that have needed treatment. I keep a bottle of peroxide in my laundry closet along with a toothbrush to remove blood from clothing.

  2. This way you can reduce the chance of undissolved Oxiclean clogging the water or soap lines. Also vinegar is specifically mentioned to not use in most carpet cleaners manuals. http://pressurewasherjudges.com/
