Weekend Wind-Down

It's finally Friday!  Whew.  It's been a long week here.  Last weekend was much busier than usual for our family, and it was followed by a rather busy week, too.  Monday and Tuesday we had company in the morning.  I often try to serve a little something, even if our visitors will only be here for a short time.  We had apple muffins one day and cheese and apple slices the next.  It works for us.

Did you know today is Pi Day?  Unfortunately, I can't impress you with knowing much of it, unlike my husband, but I do remember 3.14 from my high school days.  Tonight I'm getting together with some girlfriends to work on a project.  Since I'm in charge of dessert, I'll take a chocolate chip cookie pie.  It is one of the quickest desserts I can make, so it fits into my schedule today, too.  Will you celebrate with pie today?

This week here on the blog I shared what has made window cleaning so much easier.  For a few weeks now I have been using homemade dishwasher detergent.  It's not perfect, but even with Cascade, I have a dirty dish in at least every other load.  I think this cleans just as well, and it's only
2¢ a load and easy to make.

Spring is in the air here in Pennsylvania.  This week we have had multiple days in the 60's with incredible winds and temperatures in the 20s sandwiched in between.  We lost some shingles in the wind.  No fun, but not surprising either.

I'll write more the fourth Tuesday of the month, but I definitely recommend The Kitchen Boy: A Novel of the Last Tsar.  I have not finished it yet, but it's very good.
