Friday Favorite Five #21

With Memorial Day on Monday, we had a very full weekend.  I really enjoy when we are busy-at home.  I don't thrive in busyness, especially when I have to do a lot away from home, but I like when we stay busy at home, as a family.

1. My mother-in-law.  Derek's mom came for a visit last weekend so we would have a babysitter.  She is always a blessing to our family.  I really appreciate that we have a good relationship.

2. A friend's wedding.  We attended a wedding (in which my MIL babysat) at our church.  It was beautiful.  Simple.  We discussed how it was low-key and refreshing.  (Our own wedding/reception were also low-key.)  I love that they trusted a group of teens to serve the food!

3. My daughter's haircut.  We were able to donate eight inches of my five year old's hair.
4. Freedom and independence without eight inches.  With her new haircut, Big Sis can comb her hair herself.  It's a first!

5. Preschool is officially over for Big Sis.  It was a good year, and I hope it will be an even better summer!  (No tears for me...though it is bittersweet.)  Summer has unofficially arrived!

Bonus: Big Sis and Brother camped out in the backyard Sunday night with my husband!  It was a first, and it went well, even with a bit of rain!

Come share your favorites from the week over at Living to Tell the Story!

  1. I have been thinking about camping out in the backyard! Trying to figure out logistics for my crew. Glad to see they had a great time.

  2. Your daughter looks so much like you with her haircut! And it is so nice she can brush it herself.

I always enjoy weddings and love to see the different ways brides do things, but it is nice when they feel the freedom to just keep it simple and focus on the main thing. It's nice your m-i-l could come and baby-sit.

My husband and kids used to love camping out in the backyard.

  3. I love that D was camping in the back yard with the kids! I bet they LOVED that! (In spite of the rain!)

Our baby is just figuring out that she has hair and can put things in it. I found some things which won't fall out of her hair and she proudly walks about. It's very cute. I love little girl hair!!!
