Friday Favorite Five #15

It's been another busy week, but one that is full of blessings...if I take the time to look!  Without FF5, I wonder if I would just forget all the good stuff and focus on the not-so-good moments.

1. Little League.  Big Sis is playing tee ball this year.  My dear husband is the assistant coach.  To kick off the season, our town has a Little League parade on Saturday.  The kids march and carry a banner that shows their sponsor.  It was a small parade and quite enjoyable.  Sunday we went to the pancake breakfast after church.  It is their big fundraiser of the year.  It sure beats selling candy bars!

2. A visit with a friend.  My husband was home sick on Monday.  To give him a bit of peace, my three children and I packed up and met my friend, Faith, at a local park.  We used to be next door neighbors, but have both since moved, so this was quite refreshing.  (I tried to take pictures, but know when it won't work...)
3. Kindergarten registration.  We'll call this a blessing though I think I'm feeling weird about my big girl going to kindergarten!  Big Sis is super-excited to attend school, especially now that she has seen where she will attend.  She will attend a charter school that focuses on discovery learning.  (FYI: a charter school is a public school in case you are not familiar with the term, but it uses a lottery process for selecting the students since it is limited.)  This will be bittersweet as Big Sis spreads her wings...

4. Restoration.  I have one tooth that has been the cause of SEVEN dentist appointments (and much money spent) since January!  During that time this tooth has had a crown and root canal, but it was not extracted!

5. NO MORE MEDS FOR BROTHER!!!  Brother has been using anti-seizure medication since his 3 hour+ seizure in October 2009.  He even spent his first birthday in the hospital.  As far as we see, he has no brain damage (with a seizure of that length...) or any other side effects.  After all this time, Brother has been completely weaned from his medication!  Now we pray that he truly is seizure free, and it was not the medication controlling the seizures.  If interested, you can read more here.  That is the low-key version of what happened.  It was rather frightening.

How were you blessed this week?  Let me know in the comments or go link up at Living to Tell the Story!  While you are here, please check out the FOUR giveaways we have for you this week...several books for several ages and an organizing giveaway, too!  They're low-entry giveaways, so you have a good chance to win!  Take a peek at the sidebar or go here.

  1. How exciting that your son is completely off his seizure meds!

I understand that bittersweetness when one starts school.

It's so good to visit with old friends.

I have one tooth that has been through that kind of thing. Seems like it would have been easier just to pull it, but I guess that has its problems as well.

  2. I know that bittersweet feeling...I think all of us moms do! So great to hear of your son's progress!!

The pancake breakfast sounds like fun. And yes, better than selling candy bars!

    Have a great week.

  3. A pancake breakfast sure does beat selling candy bars. I did that once. It wasn't my thing, so I hope the boys don't end up having to sell them anytime soon. :)

So glad Brother is off his medicines. I'll keep him(and all of you) in my prayers!

  5. I am so glad Brother is able to be weaned from the meds and has no side effects from the siezure! Praise God!

I'm sure your girl will love kindergarten and will come home telling you all sorts of stories of her day! It's a very special time.

Hopefully, you are done with that tooth! Seven visits, yikes.

  6. Glad to hear about your boy - what good news! but what a time you've had with the dentist. Hope it's settled now.

I remember those days when you send your little ones off to Kindergarten - bittersweet. I'm sure she'll love it! And you will too - after a few sad moments :)

  7. Great news about your son--those medical issues are always scary.
I've worked in a kindergartehn classroom before and it's so much fun to see the little ones grow, blossom and prosper throughout the year--you'll love watching the process.

And yay for getting to meet a friend at the park who you don't get to see as much anymore!
