Karen Kingsbury Giveaway

Autism is very real, and life-changing to the families and friends who love an autistic child or adult.
Karen Kingsbury wrote the book Unlocked (linked to my review) after seeing for herself a teenager who came  out of the shell of autism.  (She included her personal experience in the Reader Letter at the end of the book.)

This book was wonderful, and I highly recommend it for a peek into the difficult world of autism.

On a personal note, just last week I learned that my former ninth grade student with autism is all grown up now and doing pretty well, overall.  I was so excited to learn this, especially after learning some of the additional hurdles he has faced.  When I think of autism, Matt comes to mind.

Even if you have already read this book, consider entering anyway to give it to a friend who is facing the challenge of raising a special needs child.  The book does not sugar-coat autism, but it does offer hope.
GIVEAWAY IS NOW CLOSED, and the winner has been contacted.  Congratulations, Cathy C!

  2. I know about autism first hand. Fortunately, my son is very high functioning. Sometimes, he makes me wonder if it is the rest of the world that should be labeled atypical. I love Karen Kingsbury. Looking forward to reading this book.

  8. oh wow! I just joined your site...I will try to post about this giveaway during the next week. Do we have to do it FIVE times or do you mean not more than 5? i am a special ed teacher acting as an aide this year (with most of the students in 1st-2nd grade having autism). when i was a master teacher of the prek class i had NO autistic students so the teaching as an aide has really helped me to learn more about the kids on the spectrum. A friend said i should read this book so.....consider me entered in to your contest! my email is hipeaksmom(at)aim(dot)com
